Doctor Mary Carlson DPM
 An alumnus of New York College of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Carlson became the first student to be awarded an APMAS Grant to conduct research on enhancing diagnostic foot x-rays which was published in 1999.  Following her Doctorate Degree, Dr. Carlson entered her postgraduate training at New York Methodist Hospital, an affiliate of New York Hospital.  Here the emphasis was on advanced surgical training in reconstructive lower extremity procedures.  Subsequently her career has included several successful practices in Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island. Dr. Carlson utilizes the most advanced Podiatric techniques for preventive and restorative treatments. 
 
 Good Advice from Dr Mary Carlson DPM:   The foot is one of the most essential and sensual parts of a healthy body.  They must be cared for, maintained and aesthetically enhanced on a regular basis.  Too often they are only treated when pain and irritation arises.  Hence, dry heels, unsightly calluses, corns and discolored nails cause pain, discomfort and embarrassment.

  The feet are enclosed, strapped, wrapped and contorted into an unnatural configuration, the shoe.  This constriction causes loss of suppleness, elasticity and depletes the resilience of the foot.  Therefore, the foot feels and shows the appearance of age. The treatment for all these conditions can be resolved with Dr. Carlson’s simple effective medical procedures, services and individualized treatment plans. The treatment for these skin conditions can be solved with Dr. Carlson's personal beliefs and individualized treatment plans.  Skin disorders can simply be improved by deep exfoliation used with surgical instruments, physician strength peels and restorative creams which return the skin to its natural youthful appearance. Other problem areas such as painful  corns, calluses, bunions and hammertoes can be easily relieved with injectable fillers  which are currently being used for facial contouring.  This treatment can prolong or eliminate the need for surgical corrections with a simple injection.  These fillers make you feel like you are walking on pillows in your stilettos. New and innovative treatments such as shock wave therapy and injections along with custom made orthotics are used for the number one foot ailment, heel pain.
